The simple fact is ham radio has become (as the 2600 crowd call it) "A
club run by grandpas". Old farts are hard to change (I know I am one).
They like the "old order" and the "Goold ole boys club". Oh they like to
sound enlightened but deep inside the only reason the are pi$$ed that CW
requirements will be a thing of the past is because they had to do (@ 20
wpm) it so should you! Waa waa! Yeah well I passed my 2nd Class
Radio-Telephone permit back in 1983 and now that's gone. You see me
crying over it? Took my CET in 1984 and that's over too. waaahhh
I have this discussion with the "enlightned" ops who think IRLP and the
like is not "ham radio" as if they know what "ham radio" is anyway.
As far as regulation check your Part 97. Ham radio is self governed.
Steve we need to turn you over from the dark side and make you a
Libertarian. Less government more mojo! :-)
Whoopps I just broke one of my few rules. Poly-ticking on cfgeeks. <blush>
Right now on QRP-L they are arguing over where the digital modes and
warblers are going to move to. Other nets need to move to avoid the new
Extra space. I guess that will no longer a problem soon since *everyone*
will be an Extra. :-)
I am KE3VIN and I approve this message.
