I just started my MBA at Emory and one of my professor's apparently has ties
with NASA. His name is Patrick Noonan. His specialty is in "Decision
Science" - so he's probably worked with them on stuff.

He is the one that sent out the pics to us after we did a Case Study on the
Challenger disaster.... at the very least, he seems pretty knowledgeable and
passionate about NASA (he had shuttle props and a lot of info on them).
Its a forward of a forward, so who knows the path it took to get here......

Well, chances are that the shuttle shots are taken with a space-rated
variant of some camera mechanism that exists elsewhere. Hubble would be a
different story. Regardless, however, there is a lot of camera data in EXIF
beyond just the camera model. (i.e. focal length, shutter speed, metering
mode, etc.)
Of course with these photos, while some clearly look like video frames,
others really do look like still camera photos.
