FORT LAUDERDALE

The Air & Sea Show, one of the largest spectator events in South
Florida, featuring a smorgasbord of military and civilian planes, is
calling it quits after 13 years.

Citing rising fuel costs and a downward economic trend, the show's
organizers said they are unable to confirm a title sponsor, forcing
them to cancel the show in 2008.

"The event is not economically viable without a title sponsor and
corporate sponsorships are not the same as they were, especially
during this more sensitive economic climate," Michael Goodman, public
relations spokesperson on behalf of the Air & Sea Show, said in a
prepared statement. "The event producers are very proud of what they
have created and brought to Fort Lauderdale, however, without a title
sponsor they are unable to produce this multi-million dollar event."

Held on Fort Lauderdale's beach between Las Olas and Oakland Park
boulevards, the show drew hundreds of thousands of spectators each
year to see the Navy Blue Angels, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and
numerous other high-powered military acts.

The show, free to the public, also brought an assortment of miltary
vessels to Fort Lauderdale as part of Fleet Week. It was credited
with with filling hotel rooms and beachfront restaurants, as well as
sparking other business opportunities that ultimately impacted the
area's economic vitality.

"We thank the City of Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, and the many
others who supported the Air & Sea Show. Everyone involved with the
event should be very proud knowing that we held the torch to honor
our men and women serving in the military, veterans and other true
heroes that protect our freedom," added Goodman.
