We use them also and I love them. The only difference is our dimmer switch lighting. It freaks out our dimmer switch with a low buzzing sound when you actually "dim" them and the bulbs blew within a month or two. Definitely makes a temp difference in a small room with lots of lights, too. I buy the more expensive ones as well, so maybe that makes a difference...

We have at least a dozen of these bulbs in the house right now, and we've
been planning on installing more. I just took my portable shortwave
receiver to the living room and checked the noise with them off and with
them on from about 5 feet away and I don't hear any difference, same thing
with the ones in the kitchen.
The bulb replacements that we use are all the slightly more expensive name
brand bulbs (Like GE I think), and I have not tried any of the Home Depot or
Lowes branded bulbs...so I don't know about those.
In our master closet is a typical tubular fluorescent that makes a racket
when the starter is failing.
