[cfgeeks] Save the clocktower!

Which is what amuses me...we're going to offer this great benefit so the uninsured become covered...how?? Most companies offer insurance now - may not be great coverage, but some "token" that qualifies as a "benefit" to make them a more attractive employer. My company processes service industry employee payrolls and employees struggle to make their premiums. So, we're going to tax them because they have employer provided insurance? If people don't have employer-provided insurance as an option, chances are they can't afford the $600/month+ premiums (for basic health coverage with high deductibles which make it useless to begin with) for non-employer provided insurance. Giving them a $15,000 tax deduction won't help....

I'd truly love to know the details on this one because I think it's just hype to make it look like we are doing something, yet are so out of touch with the people who need the insurance we have no clue how to actually help them! I believe the answer is healthcare reform -- not more "tax benefit" smoke clouds that don't really accomplish anything.

Don't ask me to explain the crazy thing; it's convoluted. IMHO, it's
designed so that people won't understand how much they're being taxed,
just like the payroll deductions are now.

If you want to tax people, you should give them all their money and
send them a bill for the taxes, so they clearly see what they're
paying.
