I frequently did walk to junior high (1973) as I was two blocks from the
bus demarc. That walk I believe was about two miles one way but I didn't
mind as a kid. My mind always wandered in and out of school so it gave
me plenty of time to imagine and dream up stuff. This BTW was 4 miles
from the soon to be murder-capital-of-the-world Southeast D.C.. I walked
and biked everywhere as a kid and then I found radio and electronics
(and later computers) and thus sitting down all day. :-(

Anyway off on a tangent there... I once walked to junior high (Benjamin
Stoddard) with snow coming down (I woke and dressed myself kinda a
dysfunctional home) walked all the way to school and though it odd there
were no buses and then it dawned on me as I entered the parking lot. I
tugged on the front door... and then I felt really stewpid.
