Well, I certainly do not aggree with the government mandating them.
However, I have had good luck with one. In my 4 year old's bedroom he
has a small lamp. And the standard bulbs get very hot to the touch. So I
put in one of those compact fluorescents and it is great. Now if he
touches the bulb it does not burn. So, I am sort of a fan of them.
However, I do not have any radio interference issues myself.
