Nope, I don't think you can completely blame it on the drugs.  We were doing drugs and carryin' knives and nobody would have thought to actually pull it on a person.  It was for guttin' and skinnin' animals.  Maybe it's the class of drugs...when you smoked pot you didn't have the motivation or really care about hurtin' anyone else.  Drunk people are more likely to shoot or stab before potheads. They just have lousy aim... ;)

Hearkens back to an old John Wayne movie I saw, the bad guys were  
outside a hotel, the unarmed Duke and the hotel clerk were hiding  
behind the front desk, shots were fired by the bad guys.  The Duke  
looks at the clerk and asks "Do you have a gun?"  The clerk looks  
stunned, and retorts "What kind of a guy do you think I am?  What  
kind of a place do you think this is?!?!  OF COURSE I have a gun!!"

My wifes Grandfather told me when he went to school, it was odd for a  
kid not to have a pocket knife on him.  But also, nobody would ever  
imagine using one on another person.

Ah the drugs^H^H^H^H^Htimes, they have a changed things....
