There's nothing wrong with trying to help the environment or conserve energy,
but, as you mention, it's silly to have a coal fired generator compressing
air for a car, or for that matter all sorts of farm equipment and irrigation
equipment growing corn to make ethanol.
My proposed solution hasn't changed since I first stated it in the 1973 oil
embargo -- Nuclear fusion. Lots of clean energy, and as far as I know, few or
no radioactive byproducts.
But of course, back in 1973, everyone I told that to said "Steve, grow up, it
would take 30 years to get usable fusion.
Well, it's 34 years later, and our choices are still coal, oil, paying a
fortune for solar, wind or water based energy, or burying our fission
byproducts under Nevada, or sending em to outer space. We've come a long way,
baby!
By the way, if we got workable fusion, do you think that might change our
negotiating position with the OPEC countries? They can eat their oil, because
they sure won't get any of our corn.
HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!
