Sigh. yet another idea that I had 4 years ago and never got to make a
reality due to lack of time :-(  I still have the domain name
(opensourcevms.com).

They are doing a great job and have the right idea - tons of light weight,
open source VM appliances based on Ubuntu.

I downloaded 2 of them already and they are very well done, fast, and
reliable.  No bloatware.. this is a great open source project:
