Thanks for all the feedback.  I was heavily into Linux in the RH5.x
days and dabbled with RH8.x.  So far Ubuntu is winning the "which
distro does John like best" contest.  I'm not sure what I'll actually
do with it.  I'm thinking of building a server, but Ubuntu seems more
suited for the desktop than a server which is why I'm exploring the
*BSD distros.

Right now I'm running all of this off VirtualBox.  I loaded
OpenSolaris last night too.

I'll be an "IT professional" in no time!  :-P
